Resilience Festival!

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

This hands on and interactive workshop will have you ready for real world emergencies both big and small. Attendees will have a chance to physically build their preparedness bag in the workshop and learn what is needed and what is NOT needed in the real world. Bring your current bag to optimize, elements of your bag, or select the bag and gear you need! Jordan Wilkie, a local first responder, Red Cross worker, and disaster manager will go over the emergency preparedness basics, discuss scenarios using your Go-Bag and provide not only information, but access to carefully sourced emergency preparedness supplies so that people taking this course leave knowing they have accomplished a higher level of resilience.

Our special guests from Berkey Safe Water Alberta will be joining us to answer questions on water needs during emergencies.

October Update

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Greetings from the Flashover Team.

We would like to take a moment to remember those that were lost or suffered through the devastating wildfire and hurricane season this year. In many areas there are still ongoing evacuations and our thoughts are with those displaced.

These events are constant reminders of how quickly hazards can affect populations that think they are safe. The truth is that no matter where we are, we need to take responsibility to prepare for the unexpected. I commend all the members of Flashover that are taking empowering steps to be more and more resilient to emergencies and I urge you to remind friend, family and neighbours to do the same.

Members please go log into the members area. Notice that there is a sidebar menu for “Skills & Tools” please click on Radio Skills. We have made and carefully selected some key videos to help you get comfortable with your handheld radio. Please take some time to go through these as your radio is definitely the piece of the FlashKit that needs the most attention.

If you don’t have a radio, please consider acquiring one here https://flashover.org/product/handheld-radio/

We have them on sale now.

As we move into the winter months it is important that we keep advancing our skills. Please contact us anytime if you have any questions. We are here to help you every step of the way.

Partnership with Gramma Bee’s Honey

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

In an emergency you will need high energy foods to keep you moving and helping!

Honey does not expire. Keep it in the FlashKit as long as needed and use it on our all natural crackers (shelf life of 5 years) to keep your energy levels high! We partnered with Gramma Bee’s to give you the highest quality honey on the market! They have sourced a 350g easy squeeze bottle just for our application!

Gramma Bee’s is providing the FlashKit with all-natural, unprocessed, raw, Canadian honey!

Gramma Bee’s has not been pasteurized. Pasteurization is the process of heating a product for a set amount of time before immediately cooling in order to kill off microbial growth in food. The problem with pasteurizing honey is that the live yeast and enzymes in honey are very beneficial to your health.

Why honey over sugar?

Beside the fact that honey does not go bad, unlike other sugars, honey is anabolic, medicinal, antiseptic, easy on your blood sugar levels, easier on the liver, and has many healing effects. While refined sugars offer no nutritional value and gives you an energy crash that would be detrimental in any emergency situation.

Flashover is proud to offer you the best and Gramma Bee’s was an easy choice!

Partnership with Earth Group

Flashover is very excited to partner with Earth Group to use Earth Water as our official H2O source for the FlashKit.
Not only does EarthWater use a biodegradable water bottle, but Earth Water gives back… One case feeds and educates a child for a week in developing countries. For example: in 2016 The Earth Group provided 250,000 school meals to children in Kenya.

Support the White Helmets

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

When the bombs rain down, the White Helmets rush in. Without any functioning public services these unarmed volunteers risk their lives to help anyone in need – regardless of their religion or politics.

Like the members of Flashover, the White Helmets consist of everyday people that made the decision to step up and help their community in a time of dire need.

We stand with emergency workers around the world and will do everything we can to support the heroes that are giving hope to so many.
